Country-Level Variations in Overweight and Obesity among Reproductive-Aged Women in Sub-Saharan Countries

Background: Overweight and obesity in adults are on the rise around world, contributing significantly to noncommunicable disease deaths disability. Women bear a disproportionate burden of when compared with men, which has negative impact their health children. The objective this study was examine country-level prevalence overweight among women reproductive age sub-Saharan countries. Methods: A total 504,264 from 2006 2021 were examined using cross-sectional Demographic Health Surveys data. outcome variables for include: (a) who according body mass index (BMI) (25.0–29.9kg/m2); (b) obese BMI (?30.0 kg/m2). Results: Eswatini (28%), Mauritania (27%), South Africa (26%), Gabon, Lesotho Ghana (25% each) had highest prevalences overweight. In addition, (36%), (23%), (20%), Gabon (19%) (15%), respectively. more prevalent older women, those living urban areas, secondary/higher education richest household wealth quintiles. Conclusion: risk factors obesity, as well role that lifestyle changes play preventing associated risks, must be made widely known. order identify at we also recommend African countries regularly measure citizens’ biometric characteristics.
